Manti Te’o controversy continues

And so another piece of the puzzle in the Manti Te’o catastrophe has fallen into place. There have been so many different versions of the story that it is hard to find the real truth. That may get a bit more complicated to break down as Ronaiah Tuiasosopo, the man who created the hoax, has spoken publicly for the first time.

It almost seemed that Tuiasosopo was more myth than man; however, he appeared as real as ever on the Dr. Phil Show for an interview. Tuiasosopo explained the hoax and his reasoning behind it—eventually coming clean to the fact that he was in love with Te’o the whole time.

Tuiasosopo claims that he created the fake girlfriend for Te’o out of his love for the Notre Dame star. Tuiasosopo said Te’o knew nothing of the hoax while Tuiasosopo was pulling the strings behind his curtain of lies. Once everything became too much to handle, Tuiasosopo came clean, and now he stands here in the center of a media controversy that seems to have no end.

“I wanted to end it because after everything I had gone through I wanted to move on with my life,” Ronaiah said, “I had to just start living and let this go.”

Tuiasosopo claimed he is now trying to “recover” from his homosexuality.

“It takes a lot of courage to stand and say that, to recover from homosexuality and this type of thing,” Tuiasosopo said. “Not only that, coming back to your real life, as hard as a task as that is I’m going to do all that I can to live right.”

With that comment, Tuiasosopo may have just opened a whole new can of worms.
