Vikings tell fans to drink up

What happens when you combine a recent string of loses, a game against a rival and a team that wants its fans to get pumped up?

According to Minnesota Vikings linebacker Chad Greenway, hopefully some drunk fans.

“We have to play accordingly and our fans have to show up accordingly, which we know they will,” Greenway said, according to the Minneapolis Star Tribune. “Hopefully, they’r super-duper drunk. … So drink liquor, not beer.”

That’s quite the request for a game that starts at 12:00 pm, but Greenway has thought the time problem through.

“Yeah, I would say morning drinking,” Greenway said. “Why not? You could pull an all-nighter. Then you’d have the drunk, tired guys who will really be obnoxious.”

What Greenway has not thought through was his potential for some words from the league’s office, which with this commentary, he might need to watch out for.

It wouldn’t be the first time that fans at the Metrodome got rowdy, just check out this video from a preseason game where fans go crazy competing against each other in a contest involving the wave.
