It appears Alabama quarterback AJ McCarron‘s girlfriend has come out of the BCS National Championship game just as much of a winner as her boyfriend. Katherine Webb, Miss Alabama USA 2012, gained thousands of Twitter followers after Monday’s game when she was featured on ESPN.

The cameras kept visiting the 23-year-old, who was sitting with McCarron’s mother, as announcer Brent Musburger got distracted from the game. “Wow, I’m telling you quarterbacks: You get all the good-looking women,” Musburger said. “What a beautiful woman. Wow!”

According to The Associated Press, Webb only had a few hundred Twitter followers before the game but has passed her boyfriend’s 101,000 with 143,000 as of Tuesday at noon.

In addition to the thousands who took note of Webb during the game and folowed her on Twitter, Arizona Cardinals defensive end Darnell Dockett was impressed. He tweeted her his phone number and suggested they meet after the game, but later added that he meant to message her privately.

How did McCarron feel about the NFL-er going after Webb? “#betterkeepdreaming like the rest of these dudes,” was his response via Twitter.

Her popularity hasn’t just caught the attention of fellow Twitter users, but big media. Everyone from ABC News and CBS News to ESPN has covered her meteoric Twitter rise thanks to some ESPN cameras and a BCS winning boyfriend.
