Collins cancels announcement ceremony because of mom

There are always some surprises when national signing day comes around, and this year was no different.

After verbally committing to Arkansas on Monday, five-star running back Alex Collins called off his announcement ceremony because he needed more time to think about his decision.

Corey Long reported on Feb. 6 that Collins’ mom “confiscated” his letter of intent and left the school with it. She reportedly did so because she doesn’t want her son to go away for school.

He is considered the top all-purpose running back in the 2013 class by 247Sports.com. Collins has rushed for 2,915 yards and 38 touchdowns the last two seasons.

While he said he is also considering Florida, Florida State, Miami and Wisconsin, it doesn’t look like he will be having any sort of official announcement any time soon.
