Raisman dances for Boston, soars into seventh week of DWTS

An emotional Aly Raisman proved once again she has the heart of a champion as she struggled to come to terms with the Boston Marathon bombings and terror back home while learning a difficult routine for the sixth round of Dancing With The Stars.

Raisman and partner Mark Ballas performed a foxtrot to Stevie Wonder‘s “Isn’t She Lovely” and earned high praise from the judges, who awarded the pair a 27 out of 30 for the number. On Tuesday, Raisman and Ballas were among the first two pairs to be deemed safe.

The result must be a relief for Raisman, who, footage showed, struggled throughout the week to concentrate on dancing with everything going on in Boston. Raisman wore shirts with “I <3 Boston” on them and seemed on the verge of tears at times.

According to Raisman’s instagram, the shirts were homemade, as she posted a photo of one of her Boston shirts on Instagram last Thursday with the caption “Arts and crafts here at #DWTS #bostonstrong #prayforboston #Iloveboston”.

The Needham gymnast said she was supposed to be at the Boston Marathon this year and dedicated her performance to Boston.

Raisman and Ballas have consistently posted some of the top scores in the competition, and with just four weeks remaining, they look to be one of the favorites to win it all.
