Raisman dances into next round of reality show

Needham gymnast Aly Raisman continues to dominate the competition on ABC’s “Dancing With The Stars”, and this week’s theme seemed perfectly suited for the teenager who is still basking in her post-Olympic success.

Each celebrity dancer had to perform a 15-second solo during routines that recalled the best years of his/her life. Obviously, Raisman choose 2012, the year the U.S. Women’s Gymnastics Team won the gold medal at the Olympics in London.

Putting her Olympic training to good use, Raisman delivered an athletic contemporary dance routine to David Guetta’s ‘Titanium’ filled with a series of cartwheels and backflips that earned her and partner Mark Ballas the highest score of the competition thus far–solid “9s” from the judges for a total of 27 points.

During the results show Tuesday night, the duo gave an encore performance of the routine that showcased Raisman’s strength and spirit, leading the judges Monday to remark on her display of emotion as well as her technical abilities.

Other top scorers who remained safe this week: Zendaya and partner Val Chmerkovskiy; Kellie Pickler and partner Derek Hough; and Ingo Rademacher and partner Kym Johnson.

Raisman and her fellow contestants will be back to dance again Monday, April 15, at 8 p.m. on ABC.
