Raisman headed to semifinal round of DWTS

With most of New England rooting for her, Needham’s Aly Raisman has made it to the semifinal round of Dancing with the Stars. Tuesday night, Raisman and her dancing partner Mark Ballas found out they’d survived another week.

As for what she’ll be performing in the ninth week of competition, fans voted Afro Jazz. And Raisman and Ballas have every right to be confident heading in – they scored a 56 out of 60 on their two dances Monday night. It was the first time this season the dancers have had to perform two dances. The Argentine Tango and jive worked out perfectly for the pair, who were even joined by dancer Henry Balikov to make the jive a trio.

The judges were impressed, especially Carrie Ann Inaba:

Fellow judge Bruno Tonioli was impressed with the good girl’s ability to get into character: “I didn’t know you were so good at being bad,” he said. “It was sensational.”

Raisman and Ballas return to the floor Monday night at 8 p.m. on ABC.
