Suns’ Beasley investigated for alleged sexual assault
Suns forward Michael Beasley just can’t seem to get out of trouble. The man once hailed as the No. 2 pick in the 2008 NBA draft now consistently finds himself in hot water, although his latest misdemeanor may be his worst.
According to Scottsdale, Ariz. police, Beasley is under investigation on an accusation of sexual assault.
“At this point we can only say the investigation is ongoing,” said a Scottsdale police spokesman. “We are interviewing those involved and processing any physical evidence we may have to try and determine if criminal charges are appropriate.”
Police said the investigation is related to a Jan. 13 complaint made by a woman who said she was sexually assaulted at Beasley’s home.
Prior to this year Beasley, was arrested on speeding charges and minor drug charges. The recent sexual assault allegations are clearly much worse, but very few details of the investigation are being released to the public.
For many years prior Beasley could be summed up in the words spoken by Timberwolves president David Kahn:
“He’s a very young and immature kid who smoked too much marijuana,” Kahn said in 2010.
At this point Beasley has not been arrested or charged with anything related to the sexual assault investigation, and there is a possibility that the investigation will reveal nothing.
“Remember at this point it is just allegations and that we do not know that a crime has taken place,” a police official wrote.
