Fore! Condoleezza Rice hits woman while golfing
Maybe sports should be left to the professionals.
Former secretary of state Condoleezza Rice was golfing at Pebble Beach National Pro-Am in Pebble Beach, California on Thursday when she hit a spectator in the face.
“Did I hit you?” she asked, according to The New York Times. “It was a bad shot. I’m really sorry.”
The spectator was bleeding and her daughter was trying to help by making a bandage out of a pairing sheet. Rice rushed right over to help.
She offered the daughter a white towel to stop the bleeding, and held the injured woman’s hand until medical personnel arrived.
After making sure she was okay, Rice went on to the next hole, and her assistant handed the daughter a card with Rice’s contact information so she could keep her updated.
Rice was very shaken after the incident.
“We tried not to talk about it,” said Rice’s caddie Kathryn Imrie. “Obviously, she was really concerned. And for it not to bother her probably would be tough. But I believe the woman is fine, which is great.”
