Recap: Bruins take down Jets, 3-2
Final Score: Boston Bruins 3, Winnipeg Jets 2
In need of a win after an 0-1-1 stretch, the Bruins defeated the Winnipeg Jets 3-2 on Sunday night at the MTS Centre.
The win moved Boston’s road mark to 5-1-1 and tempered the lingering sting of a sloppy loss against the Buffalo Sabres on Friday night that kicked off a five-game journey for the Bruins.
The B’s were without Milan Lucic, who had returned to Boston for personal reasons, and the Jets were missing point leader Tobias Enstrom. Boston’s reshuffled lineup had enough to rally from a one-goal deficit late in the second period in order to finish strong with a win.
Tyler Seguin, Daniel Paille and Brad Marchand scored for the Bruins, and Tuukka Rask stopped 22 shots to earn his seventh win of the season.
Highlights:
– The teams made up for the lack of first period scoring during the second with two goals each. The Jets took a 2-1 lead with just 27 seconds left in the second, and then Johnny Boychuk’s shot was redirected in front by Paille with just 1.5 seconds left, tying it up 2-2.
– The B’s found success on the power-play. Just nine seconds into the third period, Marchand was tripped up by defenseman Ron Hainsey. The power play clicked 27 seconds later when Bergeron sent a pass to Marchand and he put a close backhand shot past Ondrej Pavelec for the go-ahead goal.
– With Lucic gone, Jay Pandolfo made his debut for Boston, skating on the fourth line with Gregory Campbell and Shawn Thornton. Pandolfo wore No. 29 and landed three hits in 6:48 of ice time.
Players of the Game:
– Brad Marchand scored 36 seconds into the third period. It was Marchand’s team-leading eighth goal, his second with a man advantage.
– Daniel Paille is usually on the fourth line with Campbell and Thornton, but Julien promoted Paille to the third line against the Jets. Paille answered his coach’s call, playing a season-high 17:09 and scoring on one of his two shots. He also played an important role on the penalty kill, killing alongside Campbell and keeping Winnipeg off the score sheet.
– Tyler Seguin is finally getting back on the board again. He scored his third goal of the season, tying the game up 1-1 midway through the second. The forward redirected Zdeno Chara’s shot with a stick extension a few feet off the ice in front of the Winnipeg net.

Looking Ahead:
The Bruins will continue their five-game road trip and travel to Tampa Bay on Thursday to play the Tampa Bay Lightning (7-6-1). The puck will drop at 7:30 p.m. at the Tampa Bay Times Forum. This is the first of three games against each other for the two teams.
