Bruins sign Claude Julien to multi-year extension
Claude Julien will call Beantown his home for a few more years.
The Boston Bruins announced Monday they have signed Julien to a multi-year extension. Terms of the deal have not yet been disclosed.
In 2011, the Bruins brought Lord Stanley back to Boston with a thrilling Game 7 victory over the Vancouver Canucks to end a 39-year Stanley Cup drought.
Entering his sixth season with the Bruins, Julien holds a record of 228-132-50, good for fourth on the franchise’s all-time wins list behind Don Cherry (231), Milt Schmidt (245), and Art Ross (361).
Before coaching, Julien was an AHL and NHL journeyman for 22 seasons. He began his NHL head coaching career with the Montreal Canadiens and then moved on to the New Jersey Devils. He joined the Bruins in June of 2007.
Bruins GM Peter Chiarelli is expected to officially announce the signing at a press conference Tuesday at noon.
