Are the Patriots spoiled?

The Patriots may be out of the playoffs, but the most certainly are not out of the news. After the devastating loss to the Ravens, many in the New England area have been despondent when it comes to sports—some have even given up on the Boston teams. One many stands out though, former head coach Bill Parcells.

Over the past decade Boston sports have surged to the front page, but as of late they have started to fall off the map. What is going on, how have some of the greatest sports franchises fallen so hard and why can’t they seem to get up?

Parcells spoke rather curtly to the media, and he seems to have the answers to our questions.

“You guys in New England: You guys are spoiled. Really, you are.” Parcells said, “You’ve got to remember how the other half lives. You forgot. I was there for it, so I know.”

Parcells has good reason to be frustrated. He coached a Patriots team that faced little success prior to his involvement and then ended up making it to the playoffs. Parcells knows what it feels like to fail, and how to turn a dying franchise into a success story. It is understandable that he would be put off by what he is seeing in the news as one of the most successful franchises slowly falls apart.

Parcells is not too gloomy though, he has faith in Bill Belichick and the Patriots.

“He’s determined, like he always is. They have a good team. They’re going to be good for a while longer, I can tell you that.” Parcells said.
