Aly Raisman and Mark Ballas top Latin night on DWTS

Aly Raisman has been on fire during this season of Dancing With the Stars. Her gymnastics background has definitely allowed her partner, Mark Ballas, to choreograph more difficult routines with acrobatic stunts, and the routines have kept the pair at the top of the DWTS standings each week.

This week was difficult for the duo though. After barely rehearsing, Ballas injured his back and neck while practicing a move that involved lifting Raisman up onto his shoulders.

Raisman continued to practice with a troupe member, Henry Byalikov, who stepped in for the injured dancer. Luckily, Ballas healed by Monday and was able to perform with Raisman on the live show.

The judges were very impressed with the duo, giving them an overall score of 29, just one point shy of a  perfect score.

“Aly, spice of my life! That was a tutti fruity delicious cocktail. Tropical flavors perfectly shaken. What is in there? More of this, please!” said judge Bruno Tonioli.

“I love it. This is the Aly I knew was waiting to come out,” said judge Carrie Ann Inaba.

Even Len Goodman, who is usually the  toughest judge, liked the performance.

“It was sharp and fruity, it was tight and refreshing,” he said.

The duo survived elimination this week and next week they will be performing a trio dance when Dancing with the Stars returns to the screen Monday at 8 p.m. on ABC.
