A-Rod quietly joins Twitter, tweets injury update

New York Yankees third baseman Alex Rodriguez joined Twitter on May 31, but he’s gone relatively unnoticed, with a small number of followers at least relative to what there should be for the youngest player ever to reach 500 home runs.

But this tweet from the injured 37-year-old caused a bit of a stir Tuesday:

The premature rehab announcement enraged Yankees GM Brian Cashman, who said, “You know what, when the Yankees want to announce something, [we will]. Alex should just shut the f— up. That’s it. I’m going to call Alex now.”

Yikes.

Even after this controversy, however, A-Rod still has only 44,000 followers.
