Photo of the Week: Desmond Howard OHIO State photo bomb

If a picture is worth a thousand words, then this one has to be worth a lot more than that. This photo surfaced this week on Blacksportsline.com of former NFL WR Desmond Howard taking a pic with some fans. Little did the former U of Michigan star know that in the background a ruse was taking place by some apparent Buckeye fans to pay homage to Ohio State.

Chad Johnson’s Jail Time Over

And just like that…Chad Johnson’s jail stint is over. Last week, I reported that Chad “Ochocinco” Johnson was sentenced to 30 days in jail after, playfully slapping his attorney on the behind in a Miami courtroom. Broward County Judge Kathleen McHugh called Johnson, who was on the verge of a plea deal for violating probation, “totally disrespectful”. Now, just a week after the incident, Judge McHugh has reportedly accepted Johnson’s apology and released him from jail. According to TMZ, the former NFL star was arrived to the courtroom this morning wearing handcuffs and from the moment the hearing started McHugh blasted him for his lack of respect and seriousness. She also extended his probation for an extra month and made sure to touch on the recent domestic incident Johnson had with former wife Evelyn Lozada, calling it “horrific”.

I guess this just goes to show that a little butt slap now and then never hurts anyone.

Although Johnson was in the slammer for about a week, he wasn’t left out of the news for one second, as reports surfaced that the ex-Cinncinati Bengal has asked a judge to lower his child support for his four children stating that now that he is unemployed, his income is roughly $3,000 a month. Johnson says that instead of money coming in, he’s spending around $45,000 monthly, between mortgage payments, car payments, food, living and entertainment expenses. Some of the breakdown reads something like this:

Mortgage – $9,063.24

Food – $2,500

Car Expenses -$2,650

Clothing – $3,500

Grooming – $250

Entertainment – $5,000

Pet Expenses – $1,000

Am I the only one that doesn’t really feel sorry for him? If I had a $3,500 a month clothing allowance and another $5,000 for entertainment, I’d be taking all of you for girls’ day manis, pedis and mimosas! Maybe it’s just me but I think your children should be your first priority. What are your thoughts? Sound off below!

Tony Hawk Skateboard Headed for Smithsonian

Some of you may not be familiar with the name Tony Hawk but I guarantee that if you have sons, they know exactly who he is. Hawk also known as “The Birdman” is one of the most famous, if not THE most famous pro skateboarder there is. If you didn’t know his name before, you’ll know be able to get to know him and his immortalized works.

The Birdman announced yesterday via his Instagram, that the very first skateboard deck he ever owned will be enshrined in the Smithsonian Institute on June 22 during the Innoskate exhibit, an event honoring pioneers and innovators in the ever popular skate culture, which has grown immensely in the last 10 years. The exhibit will celebrate the history and evolution and Hawk himself will be on hand at the museum to take part in the festivities and discussions at the two day event. This will become the second of Hawk’s boards enshrined, following his first admission – one of his favorite skateboards that he rode back in 1987.

Bob Kraft Stolen Super Bowl Ring Fiasco

New England Patriots owner Bob Kraft has been in the news a lot within the last two weeks. With news breaking of the Pats signing Tim Tebow, it seems like Kraft has had lots to say. Kraft first attracted some buzz when he called Tebow “the real deal”. Now, the New England owner is going back and forth with Russian president Vladimir Putin about the theft of his 2005 Super Bowl ring. Now, let me first say that this story is about as strange as it gets, but the two people involved in this charade are what pushes this story over the top. Earlier in the week Kraft spoke out about how Putin stole his $25,000 Super Bowl XXXIX ring while he was visiting St. Petersburg, Russia.

“I took out the ring and showed it to [Putin] and he put it on and he goes, “I can kill someone with this ring,’” Kraft said. “I put my hand out and he put it in his pocket, and three KGB guys got around him and walked out.” Kraft says he wanted to get the ring back and admits he’d gotten a call from the White House [during George W. Bush years], saying, “It would really be in the best interest of US – Soviet relations if you meant to give the ring as a present.”

Though Kraft said, “I really didn’t [want to]. I had an emotional tie to the ring, it has my name of it. I don’t want to see it on eBay. There was a pause of the other end of the line, and the voice repeated, ‘It would really be in the best interest if you meant to give the ring as a present.’” That was the end of that til now! In 2005, Kraft released a statement that said the ring was a gift. However, the owner says he only did so after being asked to by the White House in order to keep from creating an International incident.

Putin’s spokesman Dmitry Peskov has come forward and released a statement denying the act via CNN. “What Mr. Kraft is saying now is weird. I was standing 20 centimeters away from him and Mr. Putin and saw and heard how Mr. Kraft gave this ring as a gift.” No specifics or details regarding what was actually said or heard at the event have been released. Peskov has said the ring is now in the Kremlin’s library along with all of the “official” state gifts and adds the willingness of the president to replace the bauble at any time. “I am aware that this gentleman is feeling such a horrible pain about the 2005 loss,” Peskov said. “The president will be ready to send him another ring as a gift, which he [Putin] can buy with his own money.”

As for the Kraft camp, they also released a statement regarding the popularity the story has gained in the last couple of days saying, “It’s a humorous, anecdotal story that Robert retells for laughs,” Stacey James said in the statement. “He loves that his ring is at the Kremlin, and, as he stated back in 2005, he continues to have great respect for Russia and the leadership of President Putin.

My easy solution to this is, let’s use this silly situation to fuel the Pats to win another championship; maybe with Tebow or maybe without. We all know that nothing is better than new jewelry!

Lindsay Vonn Opens Up on Tiger Relationship

It’s been a few months now that Lindsey Vonn and Tiger Woods opened up about their semi-closeted relationship. Now the Olympic skier is ready to talkm about the relationship that has been kept so private. Vonn sat down with the New York Times in a recent interview and touched on what it’s like being with Tiger Woods.

They’re Normal – they talk like regular couples do:

“I don’t give him a lot of feedback about his golf game,” Vonn said. “We talk golf after his golf rounds, but mostly I listen. We really are normal in that way. Lots of people go home and talk to their wife or husband about their job. That’s what we do.”

It’s Hard to Get Used to the Attention

“I can be normal by myself; no one notices me,” she said. “But wherever he’s around, we’re living in a fishbowl. I didn’t quite know what I was getting myself into. It’s weird. But it’s just something I have to deal with. He has his job, and I have mine. I just have to get used to it.”

What’s The One Thing She Can’t Stand About the Relationship?

“Some people seem to forget that I’m not just Tiger’s girlfriend,” Vonn said. “I’m actually a successful athlete. I’m Lindsey. I have my own career and my own life.”

Sounds like things are working out. I like these two together. It’s a hard thing to deal with being in the public eye all of the time. We’ll see what happens with these two crazy kids!
