Sox have fun with rookie Bryce Brentz

From The Monstah Mash where you can get all the latest in Sox news!

Somewhat overshadowed by Rusney Castillo’s MLB debut was that of fellow outfielder Bryce Brentz.

Now the Sox seem to have more outfielders than they can count, between Brentz and everyone else I’d put the total head count at about 10 too many. That said, Brentz’s debut is definitely something to see.

As one of the September call-ups Brentz will get get some action mixed in with the rest of the squad. For example, this past Wednesday the rookie outfielder was used as a pinch hitter to hit in the pitcher’s spot. Not missing a beat, the kid roped one down the left field line for a double, pretty sweet MLB debut right?

It gets better though as the coaching staff figured they’d have some fun with Brentz, swapping out the ball he actually hit for this one (note the spelling mistakes). Check out a video here along with Brentz’s reaction:

It’s nice to see Brentz having a good time, and fitting right in. If you ask him, he’s just happy to be there, gags and all.

“It’s a dream come true,” Brentz told reporters. “I think every player (that) comes up always wants to get their first (hit) out of the way. I was more than happy to do that.”

Good luck in the majors Brentz and welcome to the Sox, glad to have you in the homestretch of the season!

Here is the tainted ball: hilarious!
