Jagr chips in on and off the ice
Jaromir Jagr has not just been chipping in on the ice as the Bruins steamroll through the playoffs, he has also been doing his part to help those in need here in Boston. After Game 2 versus the Rangers Jagr was on the ice practicing alone getting some extra work in, but that’s not all he was doing.
In addition to getting some extra work on the ice, Jagr was also spending some time talking with a group of 20 children. These just weren’t any kids though, they were all members of the Boys and Girls club in Boston, and children of the first responders at the bombing of the Boston Marathon.
While Jagr may be new to Boston but he has done a great deal to make it his home, and to give back to his city. Jagr brought the 20 kids in to thank them and their parents for what they did. Those first responders at the Boston Marathon were all brave and courageous individuals, and to invite their children to a special event on the ice really is the least Jagr could do.
AT&T has been inspired by Jagr’s commitment and has pledged to donate $50,000 to the Boys and Girls club. President and CEO Josh Kraft expressed his gratitude to Jagr and AT&T for their extremely generous contributions.
“We are grateful to Jaromir Jagr and AT&T for the generous donation,” Kraft said. “This is a tremendous example of how people in our community take care of one another. As a result of this gift our members will be even more prepared for the future.”
Jagr’s work ethic and experience are much appreciated on the ice, but his selflessness and devotion are even more appreciated by the people of Boston. Men like him are what makes Boston athletics so great, especially in the aftermath of such a tragedy as the marathon bombing.
