Tim Tebow trademarks "Tebowing"
“Tebowing” has officially been trademarked.
The New York Jets backup quarterback Tim Tebow won the right to trademark “Tebowing,” which is a term used for his habit of going down on one knee and clenching his fist to his forehead as he prays during games.
“I knew it was something that was cool for me in the past, but it’s not something that I do as ‘Tebowing,’” he told reporters yesterday. “It’s something that I do that’s prayer for me and then it got hyped up as ‘Tebowing.’”
Tebow can now use the word anywhere he would like: on T-shirts, ornaments, hats, clocks and even jewelry. You name it, and “Tebowing” will be on it.
He said that he wanted to make sure the word was being used correctly, which is one of the reasons why he trademarked it.
The last athlete that trademarked a word was former New York Knicks point guard Jeremy Lin. He had the word “Linsanity” trademarked.
