Brady and Welker’s Best Bromance Moments

Published On March 15, 2013 | By Tyler Scionti

With Wes Welker leaving town for the Denver Broncos, Tom Brady loses more than a teammate; he also loses a dear friend. The two have bonded quite closely since Welker’s arrival to New England in 2007, so let’s take a look at the top moments in the pair’s friendship.

Brady’s relationship with Welker worked out well for the both of them as they enjoyed tremendous success on the football field. To say that Brady is bummed out over Welker’s leaving is an understatement, in fact sources claim that Brady is furious over what transpired on Wednesday.

While the two certainly seem to click on the field, a lot of that team chemistry is fostered by what goes on after the game has ended. Brady and Welker have reportedly vacationed together quite often. Welker even managed to get along with Brady’s wife, supermodel Gisele Bundchen, who criticized Welker’s inability to catch a crucial pass during the Pats’ loss to the Giants in the 2012 Super bowl.

Welker has always had respect for Brady’s ability on the field, but he isn’t afraid to add his opinions on the QB’s toughness and looks. In 2012 Brady banged up his nose pretty good in a game against the Titans and was unsure as to whether or not it was broken. Welker saw the opportunity to add a few quips to the media at the expense of his teammate.

“He’s such a good-looking guy,” Welker said. “Obviously, he gets banged up, and he’s probably the toughest metrosexual I’ve ever come across.”

While the pair have had a solid friendship over the years that is not to say things have been smooth sailing all the time. During a game against the Bills, one of Brady’s touchdown passes was put under review. Brady was seen on the bench sharing some choice words that were quite visibly understood by viewers. Let’s just say they aren’t exactly PG material. Some thought they were directed at the Bills, but Welker understood that part of it was meant for him.

“I think it was kind of directed at, towards me and Deion (Branch) a little bit,” Welker said. “We were giving him a hard time that his knee was down and we didn’t know what he was doing on the bench over there. He better get his butt up and get back out on the field because his knee was down and so he’s like, ‘What are you talking about, I was in.’”

Still the pair were seen laughing the incident off, showing true friends are better than the small spats that come between them.

There are just a few of Brady and Welker’s best bromance moments over the years. The two will surely miss each other in the 2013 season and you can bet they can’t wait for the first matchup between the Broncos and Patriots.
