Ex-NBA Guard Iverson Allegedly Kidnaps Children
Former NBA point guard Allen Iverson is facing legal action after allegedly kidnapping his five children.
His ex-wife, Tawanna Iverson, claimed that Iverson asked for her permission to take his children on a short vacation to Charlotte, N.C. from May 22 until May 26. She said she agreed to the request but on the 26th, the children weren’t returned.
She also said she tried to set up a meeting at a neutral location on June 4 for Iverson to drop the children off at a Target parking lot but he never showed.
Tawanna has sole legal and primary physical custody of the children and said she believes that Iverson never took the kids to Charlotte at all. She claims he has them holed up in a Sheraton hotel somewhere in Georgia.
This isn’t the first time Tawanna has taken legal action against Iverson in the name of their children. She previously approached the courts claiming that Iverson owes nearly $40,000 in child support.
Her main concern this time, she said, is the safety of her kids. Tawanna alleges that Iverson is an alcoholic and gets dangerous when he drinks around the kids.
It is unclear when Tawanna filed the legal documents claiming Iverson kidnapped the children, but if it was only in the past few days, you have to wonder what took her so long.
