Super Bowl quarterbacks create historic match up

Published On January 26, 2016 | By Alice Cook

Manning versus Newton. Old war horse vs young buck.   Denver Broncos quarterback Peyton Manning is 39 years old.  Carolina Panther quarterback Cam Newton is 26.  Manning was 13 when Cam Newton was born. Both quarterbacks were number one draft picks.  Manning in 1998, and Newton in 2011.

It will be age versus youth in Super Bowl 50.  Manning is the seasoned vet who hobbled through the 2015 season.  He was benched, he was injured, he threw 4 interceptions in the same game he set the NFL passing record.

Cam Newton is big and athletic.  He can run, he can throw a bullet, he can leap tall buildings with  single bound.

Peyton Manning is the guy who loves to sing about chicken parm sandwiches.

Newton is the guy that never stops smiling or dancing in the end zone.

Experience versus youth.  Cerebral style versus sheer athleticism.  Brains versus brawn. Quarterbacks don’t actually face each other, but they are always compared.

Who will bring it on February 7th, the  grizzled veteran or the young stud?   I’m going with the kid.
