Vick buys dog for his kids
In an effort to “break the cycle” and show he’s moving beyond his past, Michael Vick has indeed bought a dog for his family.
Rumors started to circulate when Vick tweeted a picture of his kitchen, in which a box of Milk-Bones was visible, last week. The Eagles quarterback, who spent 23 months in federal prison for his involvement with dogfighting, confirmed it in a statement on Thursday.
”I understand the strong emotions by some people about our family’s decision to care for a pet,” Vick said in the statement. ”As a father, it is important to make sure my children develop a healthy relationship with animals. I want to ensure that my children establish a loving bond and treat all of God’s creatures with kindness and respect. Our pet is well cared for and loved as a member of our family.”
While he was on three years’ probation, Vick was prohibited from owning a dog. Now that he’s fulfilled the conditions of his probation, though, he’s legally within his rights to buy whatever pet he wants for his three children. According to the AP, the Humane Society declined to comment on the story.
