NFL decides not to suspend Lions’ Suh
On Wednesday, the NFL announced that it will not suspend Detroit Lions defensive tackle Ndamukong Suh in response for supposedly kicking Houston Texan’s quarterback Matt Schaub in the groin last Thursday. However, he will be fined $30,000 by the league.
On Wednesday, Suh spoke to reporters saying that he didn’t need to apologize to Schaub and that the kick was not intentional. However, Suh does have a reputation for questionable play in the past. As Yahoo! News reports, Suh was once suspended for two games after he stomped on the Green Bay Packers’ Evan Dietrich-Smith in a game.
While speaking to the press, Suh insisted that the kick was a result of being awkwardly dragged to the ground. Many pundits and fans called for his suspension after the incident, but as NFL commissioner Roger Goodell has noted, it is impossible to know if Suh’s kick was intentional or not. Because he is a repeat offender, however, he was slapped with a fine because the incident is fuzzy, and while officials may believe a suspension might be a little harsh, they clearly don’t believe Suh is innocent as claimed.
